ein wachsender und diskursiver vielsprachiger Raum, eine Vinylschallplatte, eine Siebdruckedition, eine Lecture-Performance und ein Konzert, konzipiert und präsentiert von Gangart

Gangart operates as a team in changing constellations in the fields of art and architecture, curating, design, exhibition design and artistic research. Broadly diversified in terms of artistic languages and contents, all their works have in common: a strong spacial component, both in an urbanistic-architectonic and a social sense, a collective practice, which is not limited to artistic actors, and a research based approach.Thematic interests range from a – performative – occupation with the Austrian architecture of a hybrid post war modernism, to documentary exhibitions on topics of contemporary history and to projects on and with marginalized social groups, especially in relation to migration. Further to the field of collecting material culture of the „other“ and the related institutional structures, with a focus on textile arts. The past decade brought a culmination of projects in Europe’s south-east and its fringes and an interest in de-hierachizing working methods in the context of societal frictions.

Gangart arbeitet als Team in wechselnden Besetzungen in den Bereichen Kunst und Architektur, Kuratieren, Design, Ausstellungsgestaltung und Artistic Research. Den sprachlich und thematisch breit gefächerten Arbeiten gemeinsam ist: eine starke räumliche Komponente – sowohl im urbanistisch-architektonischen als auch im sozialräumlichen Sinn –, eine kollektive und nicht auf künstlerische Akteure begrenzte Arbeitweise, und ein recherchebasierter Ansatz.Thematische Schwerpunkte liegen, angefangen von der – performativen – Auseinandersetzung mit österreichischer Architektur einer hybriden Nachkriegsmoderne, in zeithistorischen Ausstellungen und Projekten mit und über marginalisierte gesellschaftliche Gruppen, insbes. in Bezug auf Migration. Weiters im Feld des Sammelns von materieller Kultur der „Anderen“ und den damit verbundenen institutionellen Strukturen, mit einem Fokus auf textile Kunst. In den vergangenen zehn Jahren kam es verstärkt zu Projekten im Südosten Europas und seiner Ränder, und einem Interesse an de-hierarchisierenden Arbeitsformen im Kontext von gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen.
